Películas de varias nacionalidades, incluyendo México, aspiraron al importante galardón.
Desde 1984, el cine independiente también tiene la oportunidad de ser reconocido entre lo mejor de la industria. La organización Film Independent creó una ceremonia en la que se entregan galardones a aquellas producciones realizadas con bajo presupuesto (menos de $30 millones de dólares) o sin el apoyo de los grandes estudios. A pocas semanas de que termine la actual temporada de premios, aquí te presentamos a los nominados y ganadores de los Independent Spirit Awards 2024.
Entre las películas más nominadas estaban las aclamadas American Fiction, Vidas pasadas y Secretos de un escándalo. Todas ellas también tuvieron presencia en las nominaciones al Oscar 2024. Por diversas razones, películas como Maestro, Nyad, Rustin y La sociedad de la nieve, también competidoras al Oscar, no fueron consideradas como elegibles para estos premios.
